I loved this book so very much.
I listened to the audio book for The Rest of Us Just Live Here. And i couldn’t do anything else for the rest of the day, good thing it was on the weekend because i really didn’t want to pause it for anything.
This book focuses on the thought that sometimes you aren’t the chosen one, sometimes things amazing happens for other people but not you and you have to be okay with that.
I think it’s far to say all books i have read the main character/s have to do some amazing thing. whether it be rescue the world, dealing with how they love a vampire, convince someone not to harm themselves, find out whole killed such and such etc. But in this one the main characters where just trying to survive high school and make it to the end of the year to graduate.
I absolutely loved how clearly in this book some other weird stuff is happening with the indie kids but seeing it doesn’t have to do with the main characters we don’t know much about what is going on.These kids where not the chosen ones so they do not have to run around town with untrustworthy cops to try and stop the wrath of the Gods and Goddesses.
At the beginning of each chapter there is a little snippet of what is happening with the Indie kids, then it goes back to the main character and his point of view.
Also the main characters best friend is special (can’t tell you why) but still even then it isn’t the main character so it doesn’t really get told in the story. I just love how clearly there is other stuff going on in this town but seeing these kids aren’t the chosen ones we don’t know what is really happening.
I really want to buy this book and have a physical copy so i can reread it. I think that if i read it again my rating would go up. There are a couple of different covers so here they are:
I really enjoyed the concept of this book, here check out the goodreads description
What if you aren’t the Chosen One?
The one who’s supposed to fight the zombies, or the soul-eating ghosts, or whatever the heck this new thing is, with the blue lights and the death?
What if you’re like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again.
Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life.
Even if your best friend is worshipped by mountain lions.
